Taylor 8 String Baritone Strings Part 2

Part 2: Longevity

This one is a lot shorter than the first blog post. It has to do with how long a set of strings lasts for me and why. It also looks into some possible solutions.
So how long do my strings last? It depends on a lot of things but generally no more than 2 weeks. I rarely break strings and I think, for the most part, that a week or two is all most people get out of a set of strings before they’re dead! There are, of course, coated and treated strings out there but for how I play they just suck.… Read more

Taylor 8 String Baritone Strings Part 1

Part 1: String to String Balance(when amplified)

I've decided to write a few blog posts about strings. I'll try not to be boring but it will involve some technical speak and a short lesson on pickups, ferrous materials, and string construction. Since Taylor guitars uses a magnetic pickup, (with a body sensor also but that's not important for this blog). Functionally it reproduces sound the same way that an electric guitar does. This is important to understand when trying to amplify the acoustic sound.

Poison (Demo) Podcast

Poison

Through you my world burned
it wasn't much but it's all I had.
And Now, I'm left as nothin
naked in the dirt I'll beat my chest

Cuz those scales they shine like diamonds
though you're poised to bring me down
but my nerves have been shaken
and I can't abound now

Cuz I've got that poison
of love in my blood
and there ain't no cure
I need your touch

It's Eve wrapped in snake
the apple has been taken
and as the rib of Adam betrays him
the seeds of pain are planted in the ground

Cuz those scales they shine like diamonds

Butterfly Requiem (Demo) Podcast

Butterfly Requiem

92-bpm

Silence, now pregnant with the sound of a thousand voices
Crying out for some understanding of things never said or explained
like why?

I don't understand
Like a butterfly in a hurricane
like a butterfly in a hurricane
How could you even try to find you're way?
And if we should survive another day
maybe we'd finally learn how not to bend
maybe this light could shine through us again
the sun would surely shine on us again

But the waves, they crash so hard that you just want to sink.
That… Read more

My Experience as a Full-Time Musician (so far) Part 1

I wonder sometimes what people think of musicians.  What stereotypes have they put inside that particular little box in their minds?   I constantly wonder how other musicians compare themselves, artistically and as businesses.  I wonder about the future of my own musical life.  I'm just going to be straight about my experience.  I'll try to keep it brief.  Hopefully I will be able to connect with fans on a more personal level, and hopefully other artists can feel that they're not alone and maybe learn… Read more

In the Name of a god? (Demo) Podcast

In the Name of a god?

We speak of conciliation
We speak of a whole compassion
We speak of a world united
We speak of peace

But then how can you think it's ok
to tear down your brothers in the name of a god?
How can you think it's ok
to tear down your sisters in the name of a god?

We speak of conciliation
We speak of a whole compassion
We speak of a world united
We speak of peace

But then how can you think it's ok
to tear down your brothers in the name of a god?
How can you think it's ok
to hate each other in the name of a… Read more

Cedar Trees (Demo) Podcast

Cedar Trees
bpm 110

She said "I've lost my dreams
given up on everything
that I thought I could be.
I let my hopes down"

and she said "loneliness
she's my only friend
and I've nothing to show
for the years I've spent."
and so I said

"I can see it in your eyes
I can feel your fear
I can see it in your eyes
and I can't taste it in your tears
you want more
there's got to be something more to this life
you want more
there's got to be something more to this"

She said "I've got to run away
from all these people if I can you see… Read more

Hummingbird (Demo) Podcast

Hummingbird
bpm 80

I was outside
beneath the flowers and the trees
when I sat up for a moment.
There directly in front of me
was a hummingbird.
I could see it clearly.
It's frantic wings
darting from place to place
flower to flower.

It seemed like time stopped
as I and this beautiful thing
existed, frozen in a moment.
It was beautiful,
the kind that lingers forevermore.
It was beautiful.

But suddenly,
Suddenly it was gone
suddenly it was gone
suddenly it moved on

and it all reminded me
it all reminded me of you
reminded me of you… Read more

Firebreather (Solo) Podcast

Firebreather
bpm 110

Now here she comes yeah and she's walkin down the street and I know
Know she's comin for me like a demon
this demon's quick on her feet
oh lately

she drinks fire
and she breathes fire
like tequila on a warm summer's night
some would say
she just can't be right

now I warn you
no don't take her home
you'll say that you love her
then she'll leave you alone
you've got to believe me man
I've seen it before

Now she's the prettiest flower
that you'd ever seen
but if you flash that money
her eyes would steam
moving… Read more

Still Believe (Solo) Podcast

Still Believe
bpm 121

There was a time when I was so young, when I was so young I was told I could be anything, anything that I wanted to be
But somewhere down the line, I was told hat it's a lie
and that I have to embrace, reality

But I don't care, don't care what you say
I'm gonna be the man
I always knew that I'd grow up to be yeah
I don't care what you say
because that real world
it don't mean nothin to me
I don't care what you say
I still believe in my dreams
so believe in me

ok, so maybe it'll be harder than I… Read more
